Mindset managed the data collection for both the 2022 and 2024 Vulnerability Assessment Framework (VAF) Population Studies in Jordan, conducted by UNHCR. These bi-annual representative surveys assess the situation of refugees in Jordan, identifying trends and changes in their vulnerabilities. The data collected feeds into the Jordan Response Plan, the UN Common Country Analysis, and the UN Sustainable Development Framework.
For the 2022 VAF, Mindset conducted data collection across two components. Component 1 involved a survey among Syrian refugees living in Azraq and Zaatari camps, interviewing 10,141 individuals from 2,208 families across 1,620 households. This survey explored trends and vulnerabilities specific to the camp context using a stratified random sampling method. Component 2 focused on refugees of various nationalities residing in host communities. Mindset collected data from 6,427 refugee households (31,348 individuals) across all Jordanian governorates. Both components addressed key demographic factors such as age, gender, marital status, disability, and dependency indicators. The surveys covered 10 modules, including Shelter, WASH, COVID-19 knowledge and attitudes, Financial Situation, Health, Education, Livelihoods, and Child Labor. Mindset handled all appointment scheduling, conducted face-to-face training for enumerators, and participated in the production of the final reports for both camps and host communities.
For the 2024 VAF, Mindset replicated the approach with some updates to the sample size and methodology. Component 1 involved a survey of 1,560 Syrian refugee households in Azraq and Zaatari camps, conducted between October and December 2023, using the same stratified random sampling method. Component 2 included data collection from 7,100 refugee households in host communities, sampled randomly across all governorates between July and October 2023. The questionnaires for both components covered the same thematic areas as in 2022, including Shelter, WASH, Financial Situation, Health, Education, Livelihoods, and Child Labor. Mindset also ensured the proper appointment setting and enumerator training and participated in the production of the final 2024 VAF reports.
