Mindset conducted the mid-term evaluation of the USAID-funded Pre-service Teacher Education in Jordan (PRESTIJ) activity, which aimed to enhance teacher quality in Jordan. The program prepared aspiring teachers at four public universities—Jordan, Yarmouk, Mu’tah, and Hashemite—by equipping them with essential pedagogical skills alongside their subject-specific degrees. PRESTIJ focused on developing teachers' abilities in interactive teaching methods, classroom management, and incorporating important topics such as gender equity, disability inclusion, and environmental awareness into their teaching practices.
Mindset’s role involved evaluating the program's progress in areas such as partnerships, student experiences, and recruitment efforts. In addition, Mindset also assessed the program’s success in fostering local and governmental support, encouraging dialogue on teacher readiness, and ensuring the sustainability of its interventions.
Using a mixed-method approach in line with USAID’s evaluation policy, Mindset conducted desk reviews, key informant interviews (KIIs) with stakeholders, and focus group discussions (FGDs) with students. The evaluation provided comprehensive insights into the program’s effectiveness, identifying strengths and areas for improvement to guide the next phase of the initiative.
